Yes it is, but there's very little traffic these days, so if you're looking
at the archive you'll mostly be seeing the spam 'background' that you don't
notice so much on busier newsgroups.

There's a remarkable amount of gay porn related spam here. More than I
see in most newsgroups. But yes, it's also about climbing.

I guessed the spammer, errm, "liked" climbers (but wasn't one) and
thought "at least one of them must be gay and will respond" originally.

I doubt gay climbers responded, the mountain he was climbing was
intelligence; working on the basis that there are few *really* stupid
climbers.
