I guess this newsgroup is knackered as a result of all the spam. Any
recommendations where I can find a functioning newsgroup on a climbing
topic?

There's rec.climbing, I guess.

But if more people posted here, the spam wouldn't be so noticeable;
there isn't really that much, you know.

There's rec.climbing, I guess.

That's it, sadly there is almost no on topic activity on this group. I
expect there are still quite a few people keeping an eye out for
posts...

Somebody already mentioned rec.climbing

If you want something more UK oriented, not a chance. As much as anything,
I think its the success of the web forum that's killed it. Not as nice as
Usenet imo, and pretty hopeless if you don't have broadband.
